How much does a Home Solar Panel system cost?
A Solar PV system will cost from £4,500 depending on system size, including installation. However, through the Feed-in Tariff payments you should recover the cost of initial installation in around 11 years.

What is the Feed-in Tariff or FIT?
The Feed-in Tariff, or FIT, is the UK Government's Solar Panel Scheme. It has replaced all existing Solar Panel Grants and allows homeowners with Solar Panels to receive 25 years of guaranteed tax-free payments for each unit of electricity that they generate.
Through the FIT scheme, UK homeowners can expect to recover the full cost of installing Solar Panels and to make a Return on Investment of around 9%.

How does the Feed-in Tariff work?
There are three ways to earn and save money from the PV Solar Feed-in Tariff, through the Generation Tariff, Export Tariff, and Bill Savings.
The Generation Tariff pays you 15.44p for each unit, or kWh, of electricity that you produce, regardless of whether you use it, for 25 years.
The Export Tariff pays an additional 3.1p for each unit of electricity that you don
Are there Government Grants available to help with installation costs?
There are no Government Grants for Solar Panels available. However, the Solar PV Feed-in Tariff will recover the full cost of installation and give a profitable Return on Investment, whereas previous Solar Panel Grants only helped with around 30% of the cost.

How big does my roof have to be to fit Home Solar Panels?
Solar Panels for homes are typically between 2kWp and 4kWp in size. A 1kWp PV Solar system will require at least 8m2 of roof space available to situate the panels. If you wish to install a 2kWp system you will need 16m2 of roof space available and so on.
